In November 14-19, 2011, the Seminar "Ukraine-Germany-Europe – Guaranteeing Democratic Processes and Forms of Organization" took place at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf (http://www.uni-duesseldorf.de/pruf/uploads/Tagungen/Program%20Support%20for%20Democracy%20in%20Ukraine%20DAAD.pdf). The event was organized in cooperation between the Institute for German and International Party Law and Party Research at Dusseldorf University and the National University "Kyiv-Mohyla Academy". The German side was represented by well-known party scholars and co-directors of the Institute Professors Martin Morlok and Thomas Pohuntke, the Ukrainian side was represented by Professors Andriy Meleshevych and Oleksiy Haran. For six days they, along with Ukrainian and German students, discussed many important aspects that may help or hinder the development of democratic societies, comparing Germany, Ukraine as well as other European neighboring countries.

The Ukrainian participants of the seminar were able to visit the Land parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and communicate with the FDP parliamentary deputy Angela Freimuth, gaining not only a theoretical understanding of German political life, but also become acquainted with it in practice.
