Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence

The original Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, founded by the Metropolitan of Kyiv Petro Mohyla in 1615, was one of the most distinguished educational institutions in Eastern Europe. After closure during Soviet times the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy was reestablished after gaining independence of Ukraine in 1991. Since that time National University of “Kyiv-Mohyla Academy” is one of the leading universities in Ukraine, which practices educational policy in line with the Bologna Process (three-cycle education, credit system, and selective courses) and best international academic standards. According to annual ranking of Ukrainian employers the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy is one of the 3 top among about 900 universities in Ukraine. It is the only higher education institution in Ukraine which runs programs and courses in English and Ukrainian at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The Kyiv-Mohyla Academy offers many competitive certificate programmes in European Studies, operates prestigious Kyiv-Mohyla Business School and launched Western type Doctorate School in Ukraine. The Kyiv-Mohyla Academy hosts the very first Jean Monnet Chair in EU law and Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence in European Studies in Ukraine that offers interdisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate courses in European Studies both in English and Ukrainian, promotes teaching and research in European Studies within Ukraine and abroad
